Little Italy San Diego
Once a predominately Italian fishing neighborhood, Little Italy San Diego has since been turned to a scenic urban neighborhood composed mostly of Italian restaurants and retail shops, home design stores, art galleries, and residential single family homes and condos and apartments.
Little Italy is located in the north-west end of Downtown San Diego, just a few blocks away from the waterfront. It is bordered by Columbia District to the south, Middletown to the north, Core to the south-east, and Cortez Hill to the east.

Little Italy San Diego – Little Italy Condos
A Little Italy sign hangs prominently over India Street, its main street which features public art and plazas, street trees, galleries and antique stores, boutiques, and numerous restaurants and small cafés with outside eating areas. Every Saturday, along Date Street, Little Italy hosts the Little Italy Mercato which is an Italian farmers’ market featuring freshly caught fish, vegetables and fruit from local farmers, pastries from local bakeries, flowers and plants from local farms, and art from local artists. Several other events, mostly related to the Italian culture are held in or around Little Italy.
The northern part of Little Italy is less densely populated than the southern part of Little Italy, which is mainly made up of high-rise and mid-rise condo buildings. Amici Park, lined with cypress trees and featuring a bocce ball court, adjoins the newly rebuilt Washington Elementary School, providing a playground for students and open space for the community.
